Will Longhorns QB Arch Manning transfer away from Texas next year?

The biggest narrative in college football this week has surrounded whether or not Arch Manning will transfer away from Texas and coach Steve Sarkisian. It's gotten so prevelant, it almost seems like the national media is lobbying for it.

Arch Manning's struggles have led to wild speculation about his future. Steve Sarkisian's coaching has been called into question and there's been the running dialog about whether Manning will transfer.

Its easy to get triggered every time you turn on ESPN if you're a Longhorns fan. Many fans are questioning why the Longhorns media partners would seem to push this narrative. Texas is the biggest brand in college football after all.

The Longhorns are the most watched team in the sport. But just like the Cowboys, there are more that hate Texas than don't.

Manning has three main options at the end of the season. He can stay put, transfer or go pro. What are the odds of each. Here are my odds for stay, transfer or declare for the NFL.

Declare for the NFL Draft

Before the season, everyone assumed if Manning had a good year he'd go pro at the end of this season. Even though no Manning has ever left college early, not even Peyton, who was surrounded in speculation before announcing he'd play his senior season at Tennessee.

Halfway through the season, Manning's season has not been worthy of being the No. 1 pick in the draft, or even a first rounder if we're being honest. Though QBs get drafted higher there natural slot.

Of course, there are teams that, if they have the No. 1 pick they, would use it on Manning. The Cleveland Browns owner definitely has an affinity for Arch. But that'a s lot of ducks to get in a row. Manning might even see who is the No. 1 team and stay in school to avoid them.

Transfer to another school

There's almost an asumption in the national media that Manning is going to transfer. The absolute topper is former ESPN analyst and former Georgia QB David Pollack. He says an "SEC coach" has told him Manning will definitely transfer.

Pollack wouldn't name his source, but given his ties to Kirby Smart and his prediction of Manning heading to Georgia, it seems logical where his information has come from. Is Kirby planting a story to forward the narrative? It is a new trick coaches are using more and more.

The problem, the media claims, is Sarkisian and his offense. Has Sark developed Arch the way everyone had hoped. No. But that doesn't mean he won't. I think Manning still believes in Sarkisian.

Stay at Texas for 2027

The Mannings are very loyal. Eli could have easily gone to a powerhouse school. Texas and Mack Brown heavily recruited Eli. But he chose to stay home at Ole Miss. The same school his dad played at. The Rebels coach was David Cutcliffe. Was he amazing? No. But Eli didn't go there for the coaching, particularly. He was loyal to Ole Miss.

Mannings don't tuck and run. History suggests they stick things out. They chose Sarkisian to be Manning's QB guru. They might know more behind the scenes about what Manning's progression and what he is getting at Texas and what he's not.

Arch also loves Austin. That's the biggest reason he picked the Longhorns. His parents love the program. His younger brother Heid now goes to Texas, which is a big deal. By all accounts Arch and his brother are very close. Would Heid follow Manning? Heid is two years younger, he'll be without Arch at his college soon one way or another. Would Manning even ask his brother to transfer?

Obviously, a lot can change between now and the end of the season. We'll see what happens over the course of the final five games of the year.
