Former Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has spoken about the criticism he received following an interaction with Alejandro Garnacho during his time at the club. The former Blues manager also opened up about his departure from Stamford Bridge, having left the club in April.
Rosenior only spent just over three months in charge at Chelsea and was replaced by Xabi Alonso, who took the job in the summer as the Blues’ new manager.
The former Chelsea boss won 11 of his 23 matches in charge, but a run of seven defeats across eight games - which included an exit from the Champions League - led to Rosenior being dismissed.
During the second-leg defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Rosenior became the subject of criticism for passing a note of instructions to Garnacho, who was being substituted into the game. Chelsea were trailing 3-0 on the night and 8-2 on aggregate at the time of the substitution, and Rosenior has now hit back at the criticism he received.

“It was the best experience of my life, and the hardest too. It was fantastic, even though it only lasted four months,” Rosenior told So Foot when asked about his time at Chelsea.
“I don’t want to go into details now; I’ll talk about it one day, when the time is right. But in a country where tolerance is an important value, what happened there has nothing to do with football.”
When quizzed for more details on his departure, Rosenior went on: “Actually, the moment that worried me the most was at the beginning, when we went through that five-game winning streak.
“Any club would have been happy with such a run, but not Chelsea. You get good results and you’re in the spotlight. Then, there was a kind of snowball effect in the media.
“They made fun of those instructions I gave Garnacho on a scrap of paper when we were down to 10 men against PSG.
“The clothes I wore became a joke, the way I spoke too. I’m not a joke! You’re the first people I’m talking to about this, and probably the last for a long time, but one day, I’ll tell you what really happened.”
Since leaving Chelsea, Rosenior has returned to France to take charge of Ligue 1 club Paris FC, and has currently guided the team to fourth place in the table, three points behind leaders PSG.
