Norwich City 3-2 Watford: Match report, player ratings

Three goals in 18 second-half minutes saw the Canaries turn the contest on its head, ending their four-game wait for a home victory and piling further misery on Watford, who remain winless on the road.

A first-half brace from Myron Boadu had Norwich staring at a ninth defeat of the campaign before Ben Chrisene hauled them back into the game with a cushioned volley on 53 minutes.

Anthony Musaba levelled on 62 minutes with arguably the goal of the season at Carrow Road, before Paris Maghoma completed the turnaround nine minutes later, firing home first time from 12 yards after being picked out by Mathias Kvistgaarden.

Philippe Clement made three changes to the side that defeated Charlton last weekend. Jose Cordoba was preferred to Harry Darling in defence, while Anthony Musaba and Sam Field came into the starting XI in place of Pelle Mattsson and Oscar Schwartau, both of whom were absent from the matchday squad.

Looking to secure back-to-back Championship victories for only the second time this season, Norwich made a positive start and came within inches of taking the lead inside three minutes.

Jacob Wright kept the attack alive following a corner before delivering a low cross from the byline, picking out Kvistgaarden at the near post. The Dane improvised with a backheel that took a deflection off a Watford man and trickled towards the bottom-right corner.

Federico Ravaglia reacted sharply, getting down quickly to keep the effort out.

The hosts maintained their early intensity, with Field the next to threaten. Played in by Andre Brooks, the Canaries skipper for the afternoon stabbed an effort narrowly wide from the edge of the 18-yard box.

Norwich were then dealt a major sucker punch with just 10 minutes on the clock. A slick Watford counter-attack created a three-on-three situation, with dangerman Iker Bravo the catalyst. Driving into space down the left, he picked out Boadu with a perfectly weighted pass in behind the home defence.

The Dutchman kept his composure, calmly slotting underneath the advancing Daniel Grimshaw to give the visitors the lead and send the travelling supporters wild.

Maghoma almost provided a response midway through the first half, weaving his way past several bodies to create a shooting opportunity before curling narrowly wide.

But the Hornets, who had not won on the road since February, struck again on 27 minutes to leave Carrow Road stunned and draw boos from the home faithful.

A swift turnover of possession was followed by a straightforward ball through the middle from Mattie Pollock, which released Boadu. The forward took it in his stride, drove directly at Cordoba and beat the Panamanian on the outside before guiding a finish into the far corner to claim his second of the afternoon.

The half-time whistle was met by a chorus of boos, with City facing the prospect of a fourth consecutive home defeat.

Norwich emerged unchanged at the break, going in search of a way back into the contest.

Maghoma looked the most likely to provide that and crafted an opening for Musaba inside the opening minutes of the second half. The winger saw his lifted effort kept out at the near post by Ravaglia.

Cordoba went closer seconds later, thundering a header towards goal from Wright's cross, only for the keeper to push it back out.

Watford failed to clear their lines, and the ball eventually fell to Chrisene. The left-back lashed a controlled volley into the back of the net to haul the home team level, with almost 40 minutes left to play.

And just after the hour mark, Clement's men were level. The move started with Kvistgaarden hooking a ball into the channel for the pacey Musaba.

The loanee drove towards goal before bursting between two defenders and rifling a rising shot into the top-right corner from the edge of the box to spark jubilation around Carrow Road.

The turnaround was complete on 71 minutes, with Field breaking up play to win back possession before releasing Kvistgaarden in the right channel. The Dane showed great awareness to cut the ball back to Maghoma in space inside the penalty area.

He made no mistake, stroking the ball home from 12 yards with a first-time effort beyond Ravaglia and getting 'Samba de Janeiro' ringing around for the third time in less than 20 minutes.

Jovon Makama, lively after coming off the bench, had a handful of half-chances to put the game to bed inside the final quarter. But the Canaries held on to claim all three points and make it back-to-back Championship wins.

Norwich now face a quick turnaround, travelling to Pride Park on Tuesday night to take on struggling Derby County.
