Alvaro Arbeloa discussed the upcoming clash between Fulham and Coventry City.
The Cottagers claimed their first Premier League victory of the campaign with a 1-0 win over Hull City last weekend, but they face an opponent that seems to be settling into life in the top flight again.
Back in the top tier for the first time since 2001, the Sky Blues suffered four successive losses before beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 and Newcastle United 4-1. A 3-1 loss to Spurs followed on Monday evening, but Frank Lampard appears to be getting the group more comfortable with new demands.
“I’ve watched all their games, and they are very, very competitive. They are a team that can combine if you give them time, but also, they try to go to your box as quick as they can.
“They are a team that like to put so many crosses and to put the ball in the wide areas, they can be very direct, also they are very good in counter-attacks.
“I think maybe will be similar to Ipswich Town, a game where we had the ball, but away games are never easy, so we know that this game is very important for us, but it's very important for them.
“They were talking after the Tottenham game about this game, so they were ready in the moment that their game against Tottenham finished, they were thinking about this game.
“It’s going to be a tough game and we need to be ready because they fight for the first ball, they fight for the second ball, they fight for rebounds, they fight for everything. It's going to be a tough battle.
“I think they are very good, very good team. You can see the work Lampard is doing with his team.
“Like I said, they are very competitive, so it's not going to be easy. The game against Tottenham, for example, it wasn't easy for Tottenham. Tottenham scored a very nice goal from outside the box, but it was a tight game where Coventry defended very well, defended the space.
“We know that it's not going to be easy, and they can score from nothing. In one second, you think that you are controlling the ball, and they can score. So, we know that it’s not going to be easy, and we need to be focused and to play at our best level for 90 minutes.”
