India has won the third T20I, and with that, they have also won the five-match T20I series against New Zealand in New Zealand. This marked the first series victory for Shreyas Iyer as captain in a SENA country. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who made a return after four years, did not have the best comeback, as he shared insights on his ODI comeback as well.

The Men in Blue chased down the target of 199 runs in 13.2 overs, with openers Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi going berserk at the Hnry Stadium in Wellington as they stitched the highest-ever partnership inside the powerplay. They scored 100 runs inside five overs and smacked the Kiwi bowlers all over the park.

It is great to be playing for India again: Bhuvneshwar Kumar on India comeback

While speaking to the media, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was asked about his T20I comeback and also about his possible return to the ODI squad. He replied that he is currently not thinking about the future, wants to stay in the present, and feels happy to make a comeback to the Indian squad once again, and credited his IPL performances.

“It is great to be playing for India again, but I am not thinking too much about the future. I will continue to play domestic cricket, whether it is Mushtaq Ali or Vijay Hazare. I did not chase this (playing for India again), though it was always the dream. Credit goes to my performances in the IPL over the past two years,” he said after the 3rd T20I match (as quoted by Indian Express).

I still believe that a bowler can control the game: Bhuvneshwar Kumar stands alongside bowlers

Bhuvneshwar Kumar did not have the best of a return as he picked just one wicket in three games. However, he was asked about the conditions favouring the batters, for which he stated that there is scope for good bowlers to bowl at right lengths and control the game in batting-favoured conditions. He also feels that the margin for error is very small.

“This is a debatable question. We say that the conditions favour the batters nowadays and all that, but I still believe that a bowler can control the game. The reason is that we feed the ball to the batter.

“I know that the margin of error is very low, which we generally talk about. But still, a bowler can land the ball wherever he wants to. I strongly believe that a bowler can control the game,” said Bhuvneshwar.

Everything is given to the batters: Bhuvneshwar Kumar opposes batting-friendly wickets

Further speaking on the same, Bhuvi stated that the boundaries are smaller and everything in modern-day cricket has been provided to the batters, but there is a small margin for the bowlers as well. He cites examples of the bowlers who are doing well and adapting quickly.

“There are small boundaries. Everything is given to the batters. But still, a bowler is the one who feeds the ball to the batter. Then it’s up to the batter what he wants to play, whether he wants to play according to the ball or not.”

“But still, if you look at the good bowlers, they are still doing well. They are consistent. Even if the game is not equal, the bowler adapts quickly. We’ve seen it in IPL; we’ve seen it here as well,” he added.
