Matias Soulé continues to shine for Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma, and now the numbers confirm it.
According to an analysis published by the statistics portal Beyond90, the Giallorossi striker is the only attacking player under 25 in the top five European leagues to simultaneously occupy one of the top two positions in two specific rankings: progressive runs and runs into the final third.
This result places the Argentine alongside two of the most exciting young players on the European scene, Bayern Munich’s Frenchman Michael Olise and Como’s Nico Paz, the only players to surpass him in their respective stats.
The data particularly highlights Soulé’s ability to lead the attack, advance with the ball, and bring Roma’s play into the opposition’s half.
The Argentine’s performance is also reflected in more traditional statistics. In the first nine Serie A matchdays, the 2003-born player has already scored three goals and provided one assist, finding the net against Lecce, Atalanta, and Napoli.
Added to these are two assists in his first three Champions League appearances, for a total of six one-goal appearances between Serie A and the Champions League.
