‘There Ain’t Gonna Be Anyone Left in Indy,’ ‘HC Is Next’ — NFL Fans Joke About Colts Owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon’s Next Move After Blowout Loss to Jaguars

The Indianapolis Colts’ season is quickly turning into a garage sale, and fans are wondering who might be next to walk out the door. After trading away two Pro Bowlers and facing fresh reports that Jonathan Taylor could also be available, the Colts suffered a humiliating 42-7 defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

But while that was bad in itself, fans also had another target for their jokes: owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon, taking shots at what her next move might be, with a rebuild picking up speed and the Nov. 10 trade deadline closing in.

Colts’ Latest Trades Leave Jonathan Taylor’s Future in Indianapolis Uncertain

According to ESPN, Irsay-Gordon led organizational conversations the Monday after the Colts’ loss to the Minnesota Vikings, and two trades followed on Tuesday.

Guard Quenton Nelson went to the Seattle Seahawks and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner went to the San Francisco 49ers, bringing back a 2027 third-round pick, a 2027 fourth-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick.

Taylor played on Sunday, and so did receiver Josh Downs, who requested a trade last week and whose name has come up in the Colts’ trade talks. Downs caught the team’s only touchdown, a 6-yard pass from Daniel Jones.

With all of that hanging over the franchise, one fan made a prediction: “There ain’t gonna be anyone left in Indy after this week … she ain’t happy.”

Several clubs have reportedly called Indianapolis about Taylor. ESPN named the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, and Seattle Seahawks as teams thought to have shown at least some interest.

Taylor is under contract for $15 million in 2027 and $9.46 million in 2028, after the Colts paid him a $15 million signing bonus before this season. He entered Sunday tied for the league lead with eight rushing touchdowns, and ranks 10th in PFN’s NFL RB Impact Score with a grade of 80.8 through Week 8.

The report pointed the other way, too. Irsay-Gordon and Taylor met last week for a detailed talk about the future, ESPN’s sources said, and the Colts’ preference is to keep him through the rebuild, with the owner said to be fond of the three-time Pro Bowler.

Fan Guesses Turn to Shane Steichen and the Owner Herself

One fan looked past the roster and suggested Colts head coach Shane Steichen could be next to be moved on, writing that the owner had “already started cleaning house, but the HC is next.”

The Colts fired general manager Chris Ballard on Oct. 19, with assistant GM Ed Dodds taking over oversight of the personnel department.

Another fan joked that Gordon herself could leave the organization: “Can she fire herself?”

Some were serious, though. “I mean, who, as a player, a coach, assistant coach, or a staff member, can concentrate with the owner staring at you like this the entire time? Nobody can operate like this,” one fan wrote.

The Colts may potentially land a deal they reportedly want for Taylor before the deadline. If they do, they would be moving the franchise’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns, with 77, and the second-leading rusher in its history behind Edgerrin James.
