‘Out of Touch,’ ‘Knock It Off’ — Jets Fans Furious at Russell Wilson For Speculating, Urging 2 Heavyweights to Swing Garrett Wilson Trade

As the trade deadline approaches, the NFL has already seen some blockbuster trades come to pass. From Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner to Jeffery Simmons, there have been some truly league-altering deals to kick off a busy period.

But even more could be in the offing. Among the most speculated names for this transaction cycle has been superstar wide receiver Garrett Wilson. After Russell Wilson put forward the idea of a potential trade, he was met with a fair amount of pushback from the New York Jets’ fan base.

Jets Fans Don’t Want to Part With Garrett Wilson

As the Jets continue their long road back from the wilderness, they are finally starting to put pieces into place. Walking into the 2027 NFL Draft with three first-round picks, they have a chance to transform the roster from top to bottom.

As a result, the Seattle Seahawks icon believes they can go a step further in that pursuit. Wilson, who has been with the team since 2022 and tallied over 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first three years, might be the next player they could ship out.

“If I am Garrett Wilson, where do I wanna go? I’m going to the Kansas City Chiefs… They need a big-time receiver, and Garrett Wilson is that guy. I got one other location. San Francisco 49ers,” Russell Wilson said on CBS’s “Set, Hut!” show.

Unfortunately, fans of the Jets and Garrett Wilson weren’t too keen on the idea. As a result, they immediately fired back at the former Seahawks superstar, claiming that their star wide receiver isn’t available for trade.

“The media outlets pushing this agenda really show how out of touch they are with this Jets team,”one fan argued.

“Everyone always wants us to trade our few great players, but don’t say nothing about the other bad teams in the league’s players,”another fan exclaimed. “I don’t hear no one saying go trade for Ladd McConkey.”

One fan made it clear, “My goodness, give rest media, the Jets are not trading GW, no way, no how.”

This season, Wilson is already up to 444 yards and three touchdowns in seven games, ranking at number 15 in PFN’s Wide Receiver Impact Metric. That kind of production and experience is hard to replicate, which the Jets fan base clearly recognizes.

“I don’t get this obsession of talking about this over and over again,”one fan pointed out. “Only way he’s leaving is if they’re getting multiple firsts and they have no other option but to say yes lol HIGHLY doubt it.”

Another fan, too, was done with the conversations surrounding Wilson, stating, “Knock it off. G5 is not available to be traded.”

It remains to be seen if the belief from fans stands the test of time as the trade deadline inches closer. So far, he’s been one of the most popular names in the rumor mill.
