Fallon Sherrock has won £501,000 after beating Luke Littler in his Netflix tournament at Manchester Central Convention Complex on Friday night.

The only woman to win a match at a PDC World Darts Championship was one of twenty competitors to play in a single-legged match against the two-time world champion after winning a public vote against Jarod Becker to be the 15th.

Sherrock, 32, put a stop to Littler after winning 14 legs in a row, and has now won the biggest prize ever pocketed by a woman at a darts event. However, her involvement in the tournament billed as being for amateur players was controversial having played on PDC events, although women's world number does not have a Tour Card.

Speaking afterwards, the Queen of the Palace said: "It's insane. Honestly, I can't put into words how much it means, especially having [my son] Rory here; it's the first time he's ever been to anything, and he's seen me win!"

She continued: "It was lovely. I'm sorry, I'm just lost for words right now. It was a great moment; I'll [remember] this forever."

When it was put to Sherrock that she turns up when it really matters, she replied: "I know! I'm like, give me an opportunity and I'll take it, every time. I don't know what it is, but I'm really proud of myself right now."

Magnanimous in defeat, Littler said: "Brilliant. That's what one person had to do: win the bull and go out in 15, and that's exactly what Fallon did - hit the 140 to leave 142. When she missed the first go at tops, I was like, 'give me a chance', but she didn't- world class.

"I've enjoyed every bit of it. The advert, the photoshoot - everything leading up to this- it's been good. Maybe Netflix; we can do it again next year."
