Derek McInnes made a light-hearted joke in the press conference ahead of Rangers’ game against St Mirren at the weekend.
The 55-year-old spoke to the media on Wednesday afternoon, where he confirmed that Badredine Bouanani had been ill over the past few days. However, that does not mean he will be ruled out of the game on Saturday night.
Emmanuel Fernandez, too, suffered a painful knock, but will return to training and should be available for the St Mirren clash.
STV Sports presenter Raman Bhardwaj attended the pre-match press conference and kept his phone on McInnes‘ desk. The Gers boss greeted him and asked him if he was wearing Jonathan Sutherland’s jacket.
Sutherland, a BBC Scotland reporter on Sportscene, is known to be in his brown jacket whenever he is on air. He was not at the press conference, but the comment from McInnes ended up getting laughs from the rest of the journalists in the room.

Tinkering with a winning team is ill-advised, but the Gers would not have won the Aberdeen game had there not been firepower brought on off the bench. Even that was a changed eleven, and there is a good chance that McInnes looks to switch things around again.
Given Fernandez’s fitness situation and recent form, benching him for a game may not be the worst idea in the world. This could see Ben Godfrey coming into the side and showing why he deserves to start over the Nigeria international.
Dan Neil could also come back in midfield, as the Gers did seem to struggle to control the middle of the park against Aberdeen. He’s likely to come in for Tuur Rommens, while James Penrice then moves back into his favoured left-back position.
