Tenerife fans gathered at the club's stadium on Tuesday night to pay tribute to Jesus de Miguel following his tragic death aged 30.
The Tenerife striker passed away in hospital after colliding with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono in a Spanish Segunda clash on Monday. Owono was sent off for the challenge, which left De Miguel motionless on the pitch and saw the game abandoned.
De Jesus suffered head and chest injuries. His condition was described as serious but stable on Monday night, but he passed away on Tuesday morning after his health deteriorated.
Spanish authorities have opened an investigation for possible involuntary manslaughter against Owono, who reportedly 'broke down' in the dressing room after the match. However, Santa Cruz de Tenerife chief prosecutor Jose Luis Sanchez-Jauregui has said that criminal proceedings against the 25-year-old were "very unlikely".
