George Russell has received a ten-second time penalty at the Mexican Grand Prix after making contact with Isack Hadjar on the opening lap, sending the Red Bull driver into a spin and dropping him to the back of the field.
The incident occurred when Russell's front-left tyre made contact with Hadjar's rear-right tyre into turn 6, causing the Frenchman to lose control of his car. Hadjar was left facing the wrong direction as the rest of the field continued, while Russell managed to carry on.
The stewards subsequently handed the Mercedes driver a ten-second time penalty for causing the collision, which he can serve during a pit stop or have added to his race time.
