There are a lot of trade rumors surrounding the New York Giants heading into the Week 9 NFL schedule. After starting the season with a 4-2-1 record and taking the top spot in the NFC East, New York is in a position where making a move to improve the roster makes sense. According to recent reports, running back and the interior of the defensive line are what the team is targeting.

However, while they have been linked to a trade for three-time Pro Bowler Jonathan Taylor recently, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler claimed on Wednesday that “defensive tackle might be the spot where they look to add” after they “inquired multiple times on Jeffery Simmons” before he was traded to the Chicago Bears last week.

If the move the Giants make before next week’s trade deadline is to improve their D-line, let’s look at six players they could be targeting over the next few days.

Grover Stewart, Indianapolis Colts

With the Indianapolis Colts in sell mode before the Nov. 10 trade deadline, they are expected to make more moves soon, and Grover Stewart is a player likely to get shipped out of town. The 10-year veteran is in the final year of his contract and has long been a reliable run stopper. He is a player who could probably be had for a future Day 3 NFL Draft pick.

A’Shawn Robinson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

According to a previous report from Fowler, Tampa Bay Buccaneers lineman A’Shawn Robinson “is a name that a few teams floated because he’s still a productive interior player and a veteran who could help a contending team [and] also wouldn’t cost much to acquire at this stage.” The 31-year-old isn’t as good as Dexter Lawrence, but he would be still be a nice addition for the second half.

Moro Ojomo, Philadelphia Eagles

With the Philadelphia Eagles season headed in a dark direction, there are many around the league who believe they could sell off some pieces for draft assets over the next week. A name that could soon be available is four-year veteran Moro Ojomo.

As a piece of a defensive line rotation, the former seventh-round pick can be a difference maker, stopping the run and putting pressure on opposing QBs. The 25-year-old, who is in the final year of his rookie deal, posted six sacks last season.

Christian Barmore, New England Patriots

A surprising name that has emerged in trade rumors in recent weeks is New England Patriots tackle Christian Barmore. When he is right, the 27-year-old can be a real difference-maker and he earned a four-year, $84 million deal two years ago after posting an eight and a half sack season in 2023.

Barmore would be a really nice get for the Giants. The big question is whether the $46 million he is owed over the next two seasons is too big a hurdle to a trade.

Vita Vea, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

According to Fowler, “Another player on the Giants’ radar is Tampa Bay’s Vita Vea.” The two-time Pro Bowler being owed over $30 million next season could be a major hindrance to getting a deal done. However, if New York can figure out a way to make the money side work (by possibly including Kayvon Thibodeaux), the Giants would be getting a top-shelf player at the position for the rest of 2026 and 2027.

Jalen Carter, Philadelphia Eagles

A pie-in-the-sky trade would be a deal that lands the Giants two-time Eagles Pro Bowler Jalen Carter. With Philly expected to sell before the trade deadline, there are some around the league who wonder if they could move Carter because they know they won’t be able to pay him and Jordan Davis long-term.

While he would be very expensive, Carter would be a huge addition to the Giants’ frontline for 2026 and beyond.
