Jose Souza started off UFC Fight Night 293 with an early highlight.
In the first fight of the night at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, Souza (10-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) made his sophomore appearance in the UFC against Johnny Parsons. At 4:16 of Round 1, Parsons (9-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC) was looking up at the lights after a walkoff knockout.
The 6-foot-3 Souza had a natural advantage in the fight, towering over the 5-foot-9 Parsons. After patiently picking his shots from range, Souza wound up a beautiful right uppercut followed by a left hook that sent Parsons crashing to the canvas. Souza needed no follow-up shots as he walked off to begin his celebration.
