Badly needing help, the Oklahoma City Thunder have filled in their final standard roster spot. They have reportedly signed Ochai Agbaji, per HoopsHype NBA insider Michael Scotto.
The Thunder entered the 2026-27 regular season with an open roster spot. Following Jalen Williams' and Cason Wallace's long-term injuries, they lost the financial luxury of it being vacated. Agbaji will join OKC and should immediately get minutes.
Agbaji has spent the last four seasons in the NBA. He's been with the Utah Jazz, Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets. He was the No. 14 pick of the 2022 NBA draft. He's averaged 7.2 points on 44.8% shooting, 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in his career.
We'll see how much Agbaji can help. In the short term, he's at least a somewhat-real NBA player. So the Thunder won't need to rely on their two-way guys to get rotation minutes. Don't expect this to be the only move OKC makes this season in response to Williams' and Wallace's absence, though.
Maybe something more meaty can materialize at the 2027 NBA trade deadline. The Thunder have the next three months to figure out their next move after such a devastating blow before Halloween had even arrived.
