Isaac Price scored his eighth goal of the season as West Brom beat Millwall at home in the Championship for the first time in six years.
The fixture had not seen a single goal in the past four meetings at the Hawthorns, and it seemed it might stay that way when Millwall striker Josh Coburn fluffed a golden chance from close range early on.
But the deadlock was broken just after the break when Price fired a well-placed shot beyond the fingertips of visiting keeper Max Crocombe.
The Baggies further extended their lead when Jayson Molumby passed into an empty net after an error from Crocombe, before substitute Felix Horn Myhre sealed the points late on.
The win moves West Brom up to fifth and to within one point of the top of the Championship table, while Millwall drop to 16th.
James Morrison's side took to the pitch knowing momentum was on their side, having not lost since the start of October, but that the history of this fixture was a different story altogether.
West Brom, who had failed to beat Millwall at the Hawthorns since February 2020, had the first sight of goal when Price's corner from the left was headed over by Aune Heggebo at the near post.
Millwall then got the golden chance of the first half when Camiel Neghli's deflected cross soared into the box and landed in the middle of three visiting players, but striker Coburn scuffed the ball wide.
It looked like the goalless curse might continue before Molumby fired a 20-yard pass into the feet of Price who was lurking on the edge of the box and placed the ball into the bottom right corner beyond a scrambling Crocombe.
Molumby then got on the scoresheet himself when Crocombe fumbled his shot, allowing the Irishman to score his first since March.
The icing on the cake for James Morrison's side came minutes before the end when Price orchestrated a counter attack, and squared the ball to substitute Myhre to score a well worked team goal.
