Arshdeep Singh has become the latest Indian cricketer to play 100 T20 Internationals, reaching the milestone against New Zealand at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Thursday, October 22. The left-arm pacer is the second Indian specialist fast bowler to reach the landmark after Jasprit Bumrah.
India have built a strong record in T20I cricket since the format's introduction, winning three men's T20 World Cup titles and producing several consistent performers. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from T20Is in 2024, while the current generation continues to build on their achievements.
Seven Indian men's cricketers have played at least 100 T20Is. Rohit Sharma leads the list with 159 appearances between 2007 and 2024. Hardik Pandya has played 138 matches, while former India captain Virat Kohli played 125 T20Is before retiring from the format in 2024.
Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel have each featured in 113 matches. Jasprit Bumrah reached the 100-match milestone between 2016 and 2026, while Arshdeep Singh completed his century of appearances just over four years after making his debut in 2022.
Indian women's cricket also has five players with at least 100 T20I appearances. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur leads the list with 202 matches, followed by Smriti Mandhana (171), Deepti Sharma (149), Jemimah Rodrigues (131) and Shafali Verma (111).
Arshdeep Singh had a difficult outing in his 100th T20I against New Zealand, finishing with figures of 1/45 in four overs at an economy rate of 11.25. His only wicket was Daryl Mitchell, who edged a slower delivery to Bhuvneshwar Kumar at fine leg.
Mayank Yadav and Axar Patel provided India with early breakthroughs. Mayank dismissed Tim Seifert for 24 after Sanju Samson took the catch behind the stumps, while Axar removed Finn Allen for 45, with Tilak Varma completing the catch.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who returned to international cricket for the first time since 2022, also endured a challenging spell. New Zealand put India's bowling attack under pressure through an aggressive middle-overs partnership between Glenn Phillips and Bevon Jacobs.
Arshdeep Singh made his T20I debut against England in Southampton on July 7, 2022, and began his international career with a maiden over. Across his first 99 matches, he took 145 wickets at an average of 20.30 and an economy rate of 8.63, with a strike rate of 14.12.
The left-arm pacer became the fastest Indian fast bowler to claim 100 T20I wickets when he reached the milestone in 64 matches in September 2025. He recorded his best T20I bowling figures of 5/51 against New Zealand in January 2026.
He also played a key role in India's recent tournament success. He finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker at the 2024 T20 World Cup with 17 wickets, helped India defend their title in 2026, and won the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year award for 2024.
