Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move to appoint Antonio Conte, and he has now released a statement regarding his future.
Conte is currently out of work, and with Michael Carrick seemingly under pressure at Old Trafford, his name has been linked with a move to the club.
Carrick remains in charge ahead of United's game against Bournemouth in the Premier League this weekend, but GIVEMESPORT sources have confirmed that United are well prepared, with managers being targeted in case they make a change.
Fabian Hurzeler is one man appreciated by some at United, but GIVEMESPORT understands that he does not want to join the Manchester club in the middle of the season.
The German manager is doing a fantastic job with Brighton, who currently sit in third position in the Premier League table after seven games.
There's undoubtedly pressure on Carrick after a disappointing start to the campaign, but he remains in charge for now.
Speaking on his future, Conte has released a lengthy statement confirming that he's not in negotiations at an advanced stage with any club. He has also clarified reports surrounding his financial demands and requests for full control.
“My name has been linked with numerous clubs, but there are currently no negotiations at an advanced stage. Following a wonderful and successful spell in charge of Napoli, I will take the time I need to consider how and when to return to management. It will be a carefully considered decision, one I will make when I believe the conditions are right. I have read reports of financial demands and requests for full control that I have supposedly already made to the clubs mentioned, as well as reservations about what has been described as my “strong personality”. These reports are unfounded, as there is currently no concrete basis for such assessments. Should a concrete opportunity arise, that will be the time to hold discussions with the club concerned and jointly consider the terms of a potential agreement, with due regard for both parties’ needs and the qualities and approach that define my work as a manager. Until then, any assumptions about my demands and my professional future remain speculation and cannot be treated as fact."
It appears that Conte is ready to enter negotiations with clubs if the opportunity arises, but as it stands, there is nothing advanced.
GIVEMESPORT sources have confirmed that Conte is among the names appreciated by the United hierarchy.
Bringing in a manager like Conte would certainly be a huge change for Manchester United.
The Italian manager is known for being a fiery character, which is a complete contrast to someone like Carrick.
On the outside looking in, Carrick seems like a calm and measured manager, and replacing him with Conte would be quite the change.
There's no doubt you could argue that's exactly what United need, but there's also a chance it could upset some of the squad and cause division.
Either way, things aren't going well for United at the moment, and changes are needed, whether that be the manager, players, or the board above.
