The 21-year-old, who came through the ranks at Jed-Forest and Hawick before signing for Edinburgh, has had an impressive start to the season with his two scores helping the capital club to their best start to a United Rugby Championship season in 11 years.
Joining the scrum-half on the scoresheet were Matt Currie, Mosese Tuipulotu and winger Geordie Gwynn. Fly-half James Grayson added two conversions with replacement Cammy Scott another.
Patterson played all but the final four minutes before being replaced by Conor McAlpine as Edinburgh made it four wins from four to start the URC season.
The victory leaves them a point ahead of Glasgow Warriors ahead of a trip to Italy for face second-bottom Benetton on Saturday.
Patterson was one of two Borderers in the starting line-up, along with Jedburgh’s Glen Young, while Melrose’s Harri Morris was on the bench. Young played the full contest with Morris coming on as a late replacement on 75 minutes.
Hawick’s Darcy Graham was dropped from the squad as a precaution after making his comeback from injury well ahead of time in last week’s 27-17 European Challenge Cup loss at home to Toulon while Peebles youngster Rory McHaffie also didn’t feature in the squad.
