Over this past offseason, LSU football added three quarterbacks out of the transfer portal.
That group of signal callers was headlined by Sam Leavitt, but Lane Kiffin also brought in Husan Longstreet from USC and Elon transfer Landen Clark into the room for depth and a chance to develop some youngers guys in his offensive system.
Clark, the Virginia native, was not rated coming out of the transfer portal to the Tigers as he was coming from an FCS team.
The sophomore has appeared in the first seven games of the 2026 season for the Tigers.
Here's what to know about Clark.
After both the Clemson and Louisiana Tech were safely in hand, Clark came in to spell Leavitt as the primary backup quarterback. Since, Kiffin has ran certain packages for Clark while Leavitt has battled through a hamstring injury.
He has attempted 31 passes in seven games, going 14 for 31 for 235 yards. He threw a touchdown against Clemson near the end of the game and that's his only TD pass this season.
Clark is also a threat in the run game, and he has gained 89 yards on 23 carries while amassing four rushing touchdowns to this point in the season..
The dual threat quarterback earned the 2025 Colonial Athletic Association Co-Offensive Rookie of the Year last season after piling up 2,946 yards and 29 total touchdowns.
Clark started all 12 games for the Phoenix, leading them to a 6-6 record in 2025.
While Leavitt was the big fish that Kiffin and his offensive coaching staff went all in on out of transfer portal, the first quarterback to commit to the Tigers in the Kiffin era was Clark.
Clark's trainer Baylin Trujillo has said in multiple interviews that Clark did not shy away from competition of Leavitt and Longstreet being brought in and in fact told Kiffin and the other coaches on his visit that he had confidence that he could win the starting quarterback job.
