Harry Kane was unstoppable for Bayern Munich in their fixture against Arsenal in the Champions League, earning Declan Rice’s awe and respect for his goal and assist in the 2-2 draw. Rice, who plays alongside Kane for England, highlighted how great Kane is to have as a teammate—while also noting how much of a nightmare he is to play against.
“For me, Harry is the clear winner (of the Ballon d’Or). His numbers speak for themselves. The year he’s had has been remarkable. He’s obviously up against some other world-class players but when you play with him, you realise how good he is - and when you play against him, you see how much of a pain it is. For a striker to play that pass for their first goal then take the penalty how he did… he’s ridiculous, he’s such a good player,” said Rice (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Kane’s through ball to Alphonso Davies was absolute perfection. He picked out the Canadian with precise pace, positioning, and curve to beat the chasing marker and arrive at the exact right weight for Davies to score the equalizer. That goal completely shifted the momentum in Bayern’s favor and eventually led to their second.
Kane then sealed his performance by converting a penalty. David Raya went the wrong way and had very little chance even if he had guessed correctly. The Bayern number nine put plenty of power behind his shot, directing it precisely into the corner after executing a flawless stutter step.
