Napoli have already begun planning for the January transfer window, with Massimiliano Allegri keen to strengthen several positions after a frustrating summer. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, president Aurelio De Laurentiis and sporting director Giovanni Manna are working alongside the Italian manager to address the squad’s shortcomings.
Around a dozen players will be over 30 by next June, prompting Napoli to prioritize younger profiles. The Partenopei are targeting a new right-back to provide cover for captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo, while another center-back remains a possibility despite Rafa Marin’s return to contention and Benoit Badiashile’s encouraging progress.
However, that would only be the beginning of a comprehensive overhaul at the Diego Maradona Stadium.
Napoli could revive their interest in Fiorentina right-back Dodo, whose contract expires next summer. The Brazilian has struggled for regular playing time in Florence, potentially opening the door to a January move. Udinese defender Oumar Solet also remains a name to watch.
Allegri also wants to reinforce midfield and attack. Mamadou Coulibaly, the 22-year-old Monaco midfielder, features on Napoli’s shortlist, although his valuation could complicate negotiations. Rennes star Sebastian Szymanski represents another option thanks to his versatility and experience across several European leagues.
Frank Zambo Anguissa’s uncertain future could also influence Napoli’s plans, with the midfielder approaching the final months of his contract. If an offer arrives in January, the club could consider selling him rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer.
Up front, much will depend on Lorenzo Lucca, who has struggled to live up to his substantial price tag since joining Napoli from Udinese. Allegri wants a reliable alternative to Rasmus Hojlund, allowing the Danish striker to rest without weakening the attack.
