‘You Don’t Have the TV Muted?’ ‘So Funny’ — NFL Fans Call Out Cris Collinsworth’s ‘Silence’ on Patrick Mahomes’ Mistake in Seahawks-Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a frustrating loss against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7, as Patrick Mahomes and his squad struggled to find answers against Seattle’s defense. Seattle ultimately delivered a 20-3 win, handing Kansas City its first real setback of the season.

While the Seahawks’ defensive performance was one of the biggest talking points of the game, Mahomes’ interception was also a key topic. However, the attention was not limited to the Chiefs QB’s mistake, as NFL fans turned their focus to NBC broadcaster Cris Collinsworth for his approach to the situation.

NFL Fans Call Out Cris Collinsworth’s Reaction to Patrick Mahomes’ Costly Mistake

The Seahawks loss left Kansas City with just three points, tying its fewest in any of the 153 regular-season or playoff games started by Mahomes. The Chiefs also recorded zero red-zone drives, while their 213 yards ranked as the second-lowest output in those games. Mahomes finished the night with 165 passing yards and an interception.

The interception occurred with 6:09 remaining in the second quarter, as Mahomes attempted a short pass, but Seahawks’ Ty Okada intercepted the throw. According to NBC Sports, Mahomes overthrew the Royals while dealing with pressure from safety Nick Emmanwori, allowing Okada to make the interception.

However, the play that drew attention on social media was not just Mahomes’ mistake but also Collinsworth’s reaction during the NBC broadcast.

“Mahomes threw a pick and Cris Collinsworth went completely silent,” popular NFL meme page GhettoGronk wrote.

“We noticed that and laughed! The best part of the game imo,” one fan said. “Somehow that interception wasn’t Patrick Mahomes fault in Cris Collinsworth world,” another fan wrote, calling out Collinsworth for his ‘silence.’

“You don’t have the TV muted? Brave,” a fan joked.

NFL fans have always poked fun at Collinsworth for his enthusiastic praise of Mahomes, as they think that the broadcaster finds a reason to admire the Chiefs’ quarterback even when he makes costly mistakes. The interception reignited that familiar discussion.

“Mahomes throwing a pick and Chris Collinsworth not knowing what to say is so funny,” DraftKings’ Jordan Moore wrote.

“My favorite thing about football is Chris Collinsworth just going dead silent for minutes after Mahomes does something stupid. You just know he’s punching air,” NFL Draft analyst Connor Livesay said.

“Mahomes threw a pick and Cris Collinsworth went completely silent,” Chat Sports wrote.

Mahomes will look to bounce back when the Chiefs face the Denver Broncos in Week 8. He heads into the matchup with nine touchdown passes and four interceptions on the season and currently holds a 79.3 grade, ranking No. 10 in the PFN QB Impact rankings.
