No Olise, no Kimmich for this game. No Diaz in the starting lineup and still Bayern managed to play quite well. Why? Because Harry Kane had a brilliant game. His game is very different from other strikers. He likes to play those long passes to players and for this he is happy dropping deep. No other striker plays like that. That pass to Davies for first goal? Very few players, not strikers, very few football players are capable of executing a pass like that for Davies. And yet Kane finds passes like these almost every other game. Combine that with his finishing from outside the box and inside the box and we have one of the most all-rounded attackers in football at the moment.

It is baffling to me that any other footballer deserves it more than Kane does. I don't want to hear that he is a big game player. People might not have realised but Kane has now scored in 10 consecutive UCL games, only 1 game away from the record set by Cristiano Ronaldo. This run includes plenty of challenging games like the ties against PSG, Real Madrid, the recent game against Arsenal. That tells us the kind of form he is in and why he is so vital.
