As the high school football postseason is underway in some states and is just around the corner in others, players from all corners of the country continue to turn in jaw-dropping performances.
In this week's list of USA TODAY Sports Super 25 Playmakers, which recognizes the nation's top high school football performances from the following week, you'll find an array of stat lines — some showing incredible efficiency and others showing how sheer volume can quickly add up and make for record-breaking performances.
Take a look at this week's five nominees for USA TODAY Sports Super 25 Playmakers of the Week, in addition for an opportunity to see who will be voted Week 10's National Athlete of the Week.
Hough senior Jahmere Anderson, a Western Carolina commit, helped the Huskies keep their perfect season alive with a 35-0 win over Myers Park, making for the fifth straight shutout Hough has pitched this season. Anderson helped lead the Huskies' offensive production in the win with an efficient night, hauling in three touchdown receptions on three catches. Anderson's three touchdown receptions totaled 110 yards on the night and brought his season total to 434 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns.
While No. 23 Bixby leaned on a rush-by-committee approach vs. Edmond North (OK), it was senior Tylan Montgomery who found the most success in the lopsided, 56-7 win — though it only required him to tally three carries. With three touches on the night, Montgomery rushed for 113 yards and found paydirt twice. Montgomery's performance was his second 100-plus-yard performance of the season and brought his season total to 509 yards and six rushing touchdowns.
It isn't often a record is broken at a high school football program such as Mater Dei's. However, that was the case on Friday night as sophomore running back Asir Nembhard broke Mater Dei's single-game rushing record with a 339-yard performance, helping the Monarchs top Orange Lutheran 52-38. Nembhard's record-breaking performance came on 22 carries — three of which he took to the end zone. Friday night's stats helped Nembhard eclipse the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season, bringing his total to 1,025 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Allen quarterback Ty Snell isn't a stranger to the Super 25 Playmakers list. However, the performance he put together vs. Dallas Jesuit (TX) might've been his best to date. The sophomore quarterback showed off his ability to make opposing defenses pay via his arm and legs in the 77-14 win as he went 16-of-19 through the air for 255 yards and four touchdowns, while also adding 96 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. On the season, Snell has passed for 24 touchdowns to just three interceptions, while adding three rushing touchdowns.
Another player who has been a part of a previous Super 25 Playmakers list, Trinity's Ashton Taylor makes his return after a big night helping Trinity top Oldham County 49-0. Taylor found the end zone four times in the shutout win, tallying three rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown. Three of Taylor's scores came in the first quarter alone as the Shamrocks quickly dispatched their opponent.
