Chelsea’s winning streak against Tottenham Hotspur came to an end on Saturday following their 2-0 loss to their London rivals.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side dominated and were helped by Mike Penders’ costly mistake and Cole Palmer’s sending off. Overall, Palmer had a very poor game, but who else had a night to forget?
Here is how every Chelsea player fared in their first home defeat of the season.
Made a good punch two minutes in and saved the kind of shots you would expect at the beginning of the game. Despite the heavy rain, Penders looked very assured of himself until his costly mistake. Probably should have saved Mathys Tel’s shots as well. Penders’ stats were good last season, but Chelsea fans did not see that version of the Belgian.

Chelsea's winning streak against Spurs is OVER! Why did the London derby go so badly? What did Xabi Alonso get wrong? 😵💫
Brought the ball out well at the start of the game but struggled one-v-one against Mathys Tel throughout.
Put good pressure on James Maddison just before the 20th minute to prevent a promising Spurs opportunity. One of Chelsea’s better defenders but still not good enough.
Levi Colwill has not looked too convincing this season and it was no different in this London derby.
Did not have as much danger as Acheampong to deal with on the opposite flank. A pretty standard performance.
Tottenham played around Moises Caicedo in the first half. The Ecuadorian and his midfield partner Jordan Henderson never recovered.
A bit sloppy in possession early in the game. Alongside Caicedo, Jordan Henderson was dominated by Tottenham’s midfield.
Was arguably Chelsea’s most dangerous player in the first 45 minutes. Pedro Neto also did his deserve work, though.
Put a good cross into the box with his right foot five minutes in. Looked like he was pressing alone at times in the first half. Took too many touches during some attacks and completely lost his head. Cannot complain about his red.
Put in a low dangerous ball but was pretty ineffective overall. Wasted possession too often.
Started to come to life towards the end of the first half in an unfamiliar position. However, Morgan Rogers could not get involved enough in general.
