This NBA Player Proudly Said That Changing His Son’s Diapers Is Not His “Job,” And People Are Calling Out The “Straight-Up Loser” Behavior

If you're a new parent or someone who's experienced in changing diapers, you might wanna brace yourself, because something tells me you're not gonna like this.

An NBA player called LaMelo Ball is catching some heat online for his response to a question about his 9-month-old son, LaOne, whom he shares with model and fashion influencer Analicia Chaves.

Off the back of his debut for the Minnesota Timberwolves, LaMelo was asked by ESPN's Ernie Johnson if he was a "diaper changer," to which he replied: "Nah, my girl do all that."

Ernie didn't seem all that impressed, telling the 25-year-old, "Man, you don't know what you're missing." LaMelo then explained that he and his partner have "a good game plan going," which seemingly doesn't involve him doing any of the dirty work.

"I know what I gotta do and bring to the table. She knows what she's gotta do and bring to the table," he said, before clarifying that he does know how to change a diaper. "I definitely did it before, it's just not my job. You know what I'm saying? It's not my job."

Ernie and LaMelo laughed it off during the interview, but it seems people online aren't finding things so funny...

"People do what they have to do in a relationship/partnership, but saying 'that's not my job' is just next level trash," wrote one Reddit user. Another comment read: "Speaking as a dad who is struggling to get any time with his baby, hearing this pisses me off. Id change every diaper if it meant I can spend more time with my daughter."

"Someone who won’t even change his own kids diaper is a straight up loser. Thinking it makes him look big and bad when instead it makes him look even more like a bitch baby," echoed another comment. "Please read the room and help your partner. It doesn’t matter if you provide the money, it’s like they’re using it as an excuse to ditch out."

And over on X, the backlash was much the same. "Men want a child in the same way that children want a puppy," one post read. "They only wish to start families but have no interest in raising them outside of being a breadwinner."

Tweet about shared responsibilities in parenting, emphasizing that dads should participate in tasks like diaper changing, bathing, and feeding
A tweet discussing that money can't replace the value of spending time and making memories with children
Tweet questioning why something isn't considered funny and suggesting it should be shamed

Something tells me he might regret saying this, but what do I know? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
