The Milwaukee Brewers are seeking their first ever World Series championship and they’re just two wins away from making it a reality. Among the men on the team’s 2026 roster is first baseman Jake Bauers, who has had an impressive run in the postseason after nearly retiring two years ago.
On October 26, the Brewers will be taking on the Tampa Bay Rays in the crucial Game 3 of the series. With the Brewers already leading 2-0, another win here will bring them one major step closer to a championship win.
Throughout his baseball career, Bauers has had the love and support of his longtime love (and now wife) Lauren Carr. Scroll down to learn more about her and their relationship.
Carr has shifted from having a career to raising her children with Bauers and managing their household.
She revealed during an interview with Good Morning America that she “used to be a first and second grade teacher.” She said teaching was her “fallback” option when her husband was considering retirement. “Half our garage is full of my teaching stuff still,” she laughed.
Bauers and Carr are high school sweethearts. They met during their sophomore year at Marina High School in Huntington Beach, California. Bauers told MLB.com that he used to throw spitballs at Carr during history class, which led to them passing notes back and forth.
In November 2020, Bauers proposed to Carr, according to a post on Instagram, which he captioned, “Fiancé.” They tied the knot in January 2022. “Mr. and Mrs. Bauers,” he captioned another post. “The weekend we had was more than either of us could ask for. Thank you to everyone for so much love.”
Yes, Bauers and Carr are parents to two children. Their first child, daughter Marlee, was born in 2023, followed by a second child in 2025.
Amid the 2026 MLB playoffs, Bauers gushed over how his wife manages the household while he’s kept busy by his career as a pro athlete. “We have two kids, and [Lauren’s] holding it down at home by herself a lot of the time, which is a lot,” Bauers said. “Those kids, they’re a blessing, and we love them, but man, they’re a handful.”

He continued, “For her to do that and for her to allow me the opportunity to come here and kind of keep going and just support me any way she can, it’s been crazy. It’s been crazy to see her growth as a woman and a mom.”
Bauers admittedly almost retired from baseball after the 2024 season, but Carr’s pregnancy with their second kid changed his mind. “I’m like, ‘Well, alright, we need health insurance for these kids,'” he pointed out. “So that’s what brought me back.”
