Warriors’ Draymond Green Breaks Silence On Ejection Vs. Suns

Draymond Green was ejected during the third quarter of the Golden State Warriors' 116-113 win over the Phoenix Suns on Nov. 2. The four-time NBA champion had collected two technical fouls from the same sequence of events. The first technical came courtesy of a tussle with Kahman Muluach, after the pair had battled for a rebound before Green was knocked to the floor. Green ultimately got back up and threw Muluach down.

Green's second technical came moments later, after he was confronted by Dillon Brooks. The pair got into a shoving match, leading to their teammates breaking things up. Both players were given a technical foul, making that two for Green and ending his night.

In a recent episode of 'The Draymond Green Show' podcast, the veteran forward addressed the series of events that led to his ejection.

"You must stand on that type of time as a big man; if you don't, your paint gets run through, no rim protection cause there's no respect after that; that's gotta happen," Green said. "I can't fall down in the middle of the paint... So the next time you're gonna try something, you gotta think about it. I saw people say, 'Oh man, he got mad that he fell and crashed out.' A crash out would be, throw him down, run over him, want to fight him. No, I threw him down and I stood there...You can't anchor a defense if you're going to let a story end like that. Where the plot twist is like Dillon Brooks running up, spewing the things out that he was spewing out, Miles Bridges was trying to de-escalate. You weren't trying to be the villain, and that type of energy will never be respected."

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, speaking on 'The Pat McAfee Show,' Green isn't going to face further punishment from the NBA.

“As far as Draymond Green is concerned, I can report I do not expect him to have any more discipline on that,” Charania reported. “I do not expect the NBA to discipline Draymond Green any further for this play.”

Green has played in six games for the Warriors so far this season, averaging 3.2 points, 5 rebounds and 6.3 assists, shooting 38.9% from the field.
