'Peak FA Cup', was the verdict from TV viewers watching (or trying to watch) the clash between Notts County and Altrincham as thick fog obscured the action.
Those tuning in on TNT Sports were baffled by what was actually happening in the game when the mist descended at Moss Lane.
Commentators saw the funny side, with Adam Summerton chuckling, saying: 'Your guess is as good as mine at the minute,' when asked by his partner what was going on.
As the match progressed, the foggy conditions only worsened and it became difficult for the players to see far in front of them, let alone those trying to spectate in the ground and at home.
Even though the conditions appeared to simply be deep fog, one local claimed it was smoke from local firework parties causing the white-out.
They wrote: 'It is smoke from the bonfire night fireworks and bonfires. I live round the corner, it is literally just smoke. All you can smell in the air is smoke.'
The fog is closing in at Moss Lane! 🌫️

Despite the lack of quality action for fans to watch at Moss Lane, plenty of them saw the funny side and even took out their phone torches in unison to try and cut through the gloom.
Those at home poked fun at the scene, with one posting: 'Can you ask the ref that if it goes to pens they bring the goal closer to the cameras so we can watch them?'
Another wrote: 'Where's the orange ball? I miss those days!'
Not everyone could see the humour in the situation, with one user on X writing: 'I'm sorry but this is ridiculous it should be abandoned. You could be miles offside.'
The game itself went to penalties, which caused further problems for the commentators, who had to largely base their reactions on the crowd directly behind the goal.
Ultimately, Notts County survived a scare from the non-league outfit and won 3-2 in the shootout.
Rosaire Longelo netted the final spot-kick to fire the Magpies into the second round of the FA Cup.
They'd had to fight back from 2-1 down in normal time after Lucas Weaver and then Lewis Banks put Altrincham in front.
Callum Roberts scored to make it 2-2 and neither side could find a winner in extra-time, meaning an already memorable game was settled in a fitting and dramatic fashion.
