Security authorities trigger official INEOS fixture change

A day after Manchester United fans aimed X-rated chants at the owners, INEOS have faced a fixture change requested by security authorities.

Security authorities trigger official INEOS fixture change

INEOS, the co-owners of Manchester United, have been forced into an official fixture change following intervention from security authorities.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s group is facing fierce criticism over its handling of football operations at Old Trafford, with supporters increasingly frustrated by the club’s direction.

Controversial ticket price increases, widespread redundancies and costly recruitment decisions have fuelled resentment towards the ownership.

Those tensions exploded during Sunday’s humiliating 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth, which extended United’s winless run to eight matches.

Supporters directed X-rated chants towards the Glazer family and INEOS, while the players were loudly booed off the pitch.

The discontent follows previous supporter protests against the club’s ownership, with Ratcliffe himself previously arriving at Old Trafford amid demonstrations.

Amid the growing unrest, another club under INEOS ownership has now been affected by an official fixture alteration.

Security authorities officially cause fixture change

The French Professional Football League (LFP) has announced on its official X account that OGC Nice’s Ligue 1 encounter against Stade Rennais has been rescheduled following a request from the Alpes-Maritimes Prefecture.

The match, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 31, will instead take place on Friday, October 30, at 7pm local time.

The alteration was made at the request of local security authorities, although the announcement did not establish a direct connection with Manchester United.

INEOS acquired Nice in 2019 but have since explored selling the French club, with Centre Devils previously reporting that the club’s president confirmed those intentions.

The development also comes on the same day that INEOS’ plans to sell Swiss club Lausanne-Sport emerged, further highlighting the group’s changing football portfolio.

Neither development directly affects Manchester United, but both arrive as scrutiny of Ratcliffe’s wider sporting operations intensifies.
