Cardiff City's match at Wolves was halted after 28 minutes as medical staff were seen racing towards the stand behind home goalkeeper Jose Sa's goal. It remains unclear what prompted the alarm, though it appears to have been a medical emergency. Sa and fellow players could be seen gesturing towards spectators in the home section before medics entered the pitch as the referee suspended proceedings.

Accounts from supporters on social media claimed that fans were "screaming for medical help" from the South Bank. Those present at the stadium praised Sa for his swift response.

The match was stopped for several minutes before play ultimately resumed, with the Bluebirds trailing 2-0 following a tough first half at Molineux.

Cardiff City wrote on social media: "Play has now resumed following a delay, where the medical teams were called into the home end. While it is unclear what has occurred at this time, our thoughts are with those affected."

Wolves broke the deadlock in the 10th minute, with Fer Lopez heading home after some excellent work from Hugo Bueno to drive up the pitch, before Adam Armstrong doubled their lead just moments later.

They added a third just before the hour mark through Ladislav Krejci to give Cardiff a massive mountain to climb in the second half.

Newly-promoted Cardiff went into the fixture on a three-game unbeaten run but were unable to lay a glove on Wolves for much of the contest.

Previewing the fixture earlier this week, Bluebirds manager Brian Barry-Murphy said: "We know how good they are. We prepared very intensely, and with all of our focus on Saturday's game, so we are ready.

"It's the same approach every week for all games, we follow the same process all the time. The early part of the week is all about the conditioning and the way we want to be physically.

"And then on Thursday and Friday, we specifically focus on the opponent we're going to face and how we want to implement our game plan on them."
