Winners and Losers from Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 loss against Leeds as winning streak ends at Elland Road

Tottenham Hotspur’s four-game winning pursuit came to an abrupt halt at Elland Road, leaving clear individual success stories alongside glaring tactical concerns for Roberto De Zerbi.

Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur entered West Yorkshire hoping to secure their fourth consecutive Premier League victory before the international break, but left Elland Road empty-handed after a frustrating 1-0 defeat to Leeds United. A late 79th-minute strike from substitute Noah Okafor broke the stalemate, punishing Spurs for a toothless second-half display in which their offensive rhythm evaporated.

While Roberto De Zerbi’s men were left reflecting on lost momentum, the fiery encounter produced distinctly contrasting individual performances across the pitch.

Winners

Micky van de Ven: The Dutch center-back was Tottenham’s best outfield player by a significant margin. Van de Ven was first to almost every ball entering the Spurs penalty area, showing tremendous reading of the game to clear danger. His highlight moment came in the second half when he reacted brilliantly to tip Jayden Bogle’s dangerous cross over his own crossbar, preventing a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

Antonin Kinsky: Stepping into the starting goalkeeper role, Kinsky gave a composed account of himself under intense pressure. His long-range distribution consistently helped Spurs break past Leeds’ heavy press in the first half. He added a sensational late save to deny Longstaff, keeping the scoreline manageable despite the eventual defeat.

Mateus Fernandes: The Portuguese midfielder brought directness and crisp technical passing to Tottenham’s engine room. After surviving an early penalty appeal, Fernandes asserted himself well, drawing a booking from Longstaff with his sharp footwork before being substituted past the hour mark as De Zerbi sought more physical bite.

Losers

Pedro Porro: It was a day to forget for the Spanish right-back, who endured a nightmare afternoon both defensively and offensively. Porro struggled with his crossing consistency, completed just 65 percent of his passes, and was extremely fortunate not to be sent off following a reckless challenge on Nmecha. His hooking in the 65th minute leaves his starting spot under serious threat from Archie Gray.

Tottenham

Mohammed Kudus: Spurs desperately needed an attacking outlet out wide, but Kudus delivered one of his poorest displays in a Tottenham shirt. The winger completed just two of his seven dribble attempts and offered virtually no threat down the right channel, looking completely isolated before being replaced by Luca Williams-Barnett late in the game.

Rodrigo Bentancur: Introduced from the bench in the second half to solidify the midfield, Bentancur struggled to adjust to the match tempo. He lost his duel with Wilson in the buildup to Okafor’s winning goal and wasted a golden opportunity to equalize late on, though he was ultimately saved by an offside flag.
