Presteigne win again as Gwernyfed beat Cwmtawe 3-2

The sides were goalless at half-time following a closely contested opening half.

Kington came close to breaking the deadlock when an effort narrowly missed the post.

The hosts were later awarded a penalty flick but failed to convert, leaving Kington within one goal until the final whistle.

Rachel Smith was named Kington’s player of the match.

Brecon pushed for an equaliser and threatened in open play, but Presteigne took their 1-0 advantage into half-time.

Sophie Davies doubled the lead after the break when she found space inside the attacking D.

Brecon responded with a series of short corners, but Presteigne goalkeeper Tina made several saves to preserve the clean sheet.

Bella Jones was chosen as player of the match by Brecon, while Presteigne’s players voted for goalscorer Davies.

Brecon named Sally Rees as their player of the match.

Radnor battled to a 1-1 draw away to Cardiff University 4s in South Women’s Division One in difficult weather conditions.

Radnor came under pressure during a challenging second half and faced two penalty flicks, but battled until the final whistle to secure a point.

Elin was named the away player of the match and Orla the home player of the match.

Gwernyfed Ladies battled through torrential rain to secure a 3-2 victory over Cwmtawe in South Women’s Division Four.

Amy Cann opened the scoring from a well-worked penalty corner, converting after Emma Gunning slipped the ball to her.

Angela Travis added Gwernyfed’s second after connecting with a powerful slap from Gunning.

Sarah Rees reacted to a goalkeeper’s deflection to flick home their third.

Cwmtawe ensured it remained a closely contested match, but Gwernyfed held on for the victory.
