Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream suffered a difficult Game 7 loss in the WNBA Finals. The young superstar spoke from the heart after the game.

Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream lost the first-ever Game 7 in WNBA Finals history against the Golden State Valkyries. It was a tight contest, with Golden State winning 68-63 in the end and denying the 24-year-old her first championship in just her third season in the league.

Reese is known and loved for her personality as much as she is for her play. Her penchant for trash-talk and her fearlessness have at times got her into trouble with fans and the media. When she spoke after the tough loss, though, her words were as heartfelt as they were poignant.

Angel Reese says the Atlanta Dream ā€˜changed her life’, promises they will be back in WNBA Finals

This was Angel’s first season with the Dream, having been traded by the Chicago Sky after just two seasons. Despite many of her critics crowing when she was moved, Reese and her team proved them wrong instantly by making it to within one win of the championship.

Speaking after the game, the 2026 WNBA DPOY acknowledged her teammates while also making an inspirational prediction for the future.

ā€œI mean yeah, it’s tough,ā€ an emotional Angel Reese told the press. ā€œEspecially with a good group, a great group that I’ve honestly had the honour to battle with all year. They changed my life and I’m so grateful for them and I’m so thankful for them.

ā€œIt is tough in the moment, but we’ll be back. I’ve always said, ā€˜Delayed, not denied’. This is only Year 3, and they (the Valkyries) got a lot more years left too. I’m just really grateful that I got to go to war with this group and I would do it again. All over again. ā€œ

This is a huge moment in Reese’s career. While she and the Dream would obviously have preferred to win it all, a loss like this can often be the final hurdle before achieving the ultimate success. She seems determined to return and after her excellent displays this year, it is hard not to believe that she will.
