Zinedine Zidane’s 23-man France squad for the November international break includes Leny Yoro.

It has been a tough start to the season for every Manchester United player, especially those playing in defence, who have faced intense scrutiny as the team continues to leak goals at the back. Leny Yoro is getting opportunities at right-back as Michael Carrick attempts to assemble his best back four amid injury struggles.

Yoro made his senior debut for France on 5 October, playing 90 minutes in a 4-1 win over Belgium. This was a huge milestone for the 20-year-old, who was called into the senior squad by Zinedine Zidane for the first time, after replacing an injured Ibrahima Konate.

While United continue to struggle, Yoro remains on Zidane’s radar. It shows how highly rated the youngster is across the continent.

Leny Yoro could earn more France caps in November

United defender Yoro has been called up to Zidane’s France squad for the UEFA Nations League. It is a second senior international call-up for the former Lille centre-back.

France will play Italy away at the San Siro next Thursday, before hosting Turkiye three days later in Bordeaux. Deschamps will be without several injured players, including William Saliba, Maxence Lacroix, Manu Kone, Ousmane Dembele and Maghnes Akliouche.

Yoro is the fifth debutant from the last France camp to earn a recall. The others are Guillaume Restes, Andy Diouf, Jeremy Jacquet, and Lucas Da Cunha.

It’s good news if it helps Yoro develop and gain more experience at the highest level. Michael Carrick will be hopeful that Yoro – and the rest of his players on international duty, for that matter – return without any injury setbacks.

Yoro’s focus right now should be on United’s next game against Aston Villa before leaving to link up with the France squad. Zidane will undoubtedly be taking notes as he considers his team selection to face Italy.
