Arsenal are said to be tracking one of the rising defensive stars at Rangers as they aim to bolster their ranks in the January transfer window.

Mikel Arteta’s side have started the season well domestically as well as in Europe as they aim to win back-to-back Premier League titles as well as the first-ever Champions League in the club’s history.

Despite spending big money in the summer, the Gunners are continuing to bolster their senior ranks as well as their youth sides.

Rangers youngster Kai Urban is being tracked by Arsenal

According to Pete O’Rourke, the North London giants are tracking Kai Urban, who is a right-back for Rangers‘ youth teams. The 15-year-old is one of the top prospects at the club in his age group and has already represented Scotland at the Under-15s level.

He has already featured for the Light Blues’ Under-17s setup and knows that he is on track to train with the senior side in a couple of seasons. Urban will likely be featuring for the Scotland youth team in the upcoming international break as well.

Rangers News understands that no formal approach has been made yet, but the defender is aware of the interest being shown in his services.

What does the future hold for Urban at Ibrox?

Rangers News understands that Urban is highly rated by the coaches in the club’s academy and that they are not keen on parting ways with him in January. The plan is for them to get him to sign professional terms once he turns 16, but he may be flattered by interest from the Premier League.

Unlike Arsenal, he has a better chance of making his senior debut at Rangers, and that is something the Ibrox outfit could use as a bargaining chip. They have succeeded in fending off Premier League interest in Kyle Glasgow and Ashton Scally in the past few months, and they’re hoping to do the same for Urban as well.
