Concerning Liverpool exit rumour emerges that could be a nightmare for Andoni Iraola

Alisson is almost into the final 18 months of his current Liverpool contract, and a concerning rumour has emerged linking him with a return to Brazil in 2027.

The Reds lost 3-2 away to Fenerbahce in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, with Andoni Iraola clearly frustrated in his post-match press conference:

“It’s frustration, because it’s a difficult place to come here and to play and we were for the most part of the game thinking, ‘OK, we can win this one.’ But obviously it hasn’t happened.

“We have conceded, especially the first goal and the third goal – the second one is a rebound – but the wall, I don’t think we set it properly and the last one Muriqi jumps and wins the ball against three of our defenders, it’s something that definitely we have to defend better.”

Alisson was at fault for Fenerbahce’s winner, not coming for a high ball, but he remains a vital player for Liverpool, and an iconic figure in Reds history.

According to Sport Witness, Flamengo are eyeing a move for the 34-year-old, and “his name has genuinely been raised internally”, even though there is “no agreement on what to do next” yet.

It appears to be a split decision at the Brazilian club, however, with some feeling “his quality, experience and profile would make him an excellent addition”, but others “pointing to his age and uninspiring performances for the Brazilian national team” as a reason not to sign him,

Liverpool must retain Alisson for as long as possible

Alisson is out of contract at Liverpool in the summer of 2028, but they must keep hold of him until at least then, and hopefully tie him down to an extension at some point.

Granted, he didn’t cover himself in glory against Fenerbahce, and he may not quite be the incredible force he once was, but he remains one of the best goalkeepers around.

Alisson and Virgil van Dijk are going to be almost impossible to replace when they do eventually leave, which is why Liverpool must retain them for another few years.

Eventually, the right time will come for them to leave, but it definitely hasn’t reached that point yet, and Andoni Iraola will surely not want to see it happen any time soon.
