The Cincinnati Bengals have been urged to make a show-stopping move for Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, even if it means surrendering a first-round draft pick.
Sports Illustrated's Gilberto Manzano argued Monday, Nov. 2 that Cincinnati is the best candidate to meet Indianapolis' asking price ahead of the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline.
"The Bengals have no time to waste after missing the postseason the past three seasons," Manzano wrote.
Manzano pointed to the Bengals' 5-2 record and their opportunity to capitalize on a championship window with Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
He also noted that Cincinnati has demonstrated its willingness to make blockbuster moves, having surrendered the No. 10 overall pick in April to acquire defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II from the New York Giants.
And the Bengals' ailing rushing attack makes the move understandable.
Cincinnati managed just 75 rushing yards during Sunday's 43-36 overtime victory over the Tennessee Titans, forcing Burrow to shoulder another heavy workload. The quarterback threw for 462 yards and five touchdowns but also had three interceptions.
Taylor, meanwhile, is under contract through the 2028 season, meaning an acquisition would give Cincinnati more than a short-term option.
