There was a huge amount of build up to Tuesday night’s Barcelona – PSG match, as it showcased the two best teams in Europe.

The game lived up to the hype, with a thrilling 4-2 win to the Parisians the final score. But it came at a cost to Luis Enrique’s team. During the game they lost Ousmane Dembele and Marquinhos to what looked like small soft tissue injuries: but more significantly they have lost Khvicha Kvarastkhelia to a ruptured ACL.

New players have to step up to fill massive gap of Kvara loss

It looked bad on the pitch as the winger was helped off by physios, and yesterday the announcement came from the club had the winger was set to undergo surgery in the coming days on his anterior cruciate ligament.

The likes of Maghnes Akliouche and Ferran Torres have made great starts to their time at the club, and Luis Enrique will have to change his attacking plans with his best left winger now out for the season.

All we can hope now is that the surgery and physio goes well and that we can see Kvara back to his magnificent best next season

Internal tension has apparently been building at PSG over the treatment of January signing Dro, who it’s felt is getting special treatment.

Nuno Mendes is going to miss tomorrow’s game (and a further few weeks) after picking up an unfortunate muscle injury against Strasbourg.
