Gabriel Jesus’ Arsenal exit didn’t end in the smoothest way possible, but life at Barcelona is going rather well.
The Brazilian joined the Catalan club late in the summer window for around £8.6million, four years after arriving from Manchester City for £45million. Jesus claimed he’d been unexpectedly forced to train separately before he left, something Mikel Arteta said he was “very surprised” by.
Two months on, he’s already won over one of the club’s biggest stars.

Raphinha was asked to build his ultimate Barcelona footballer in a TikTok for Movistar Plus Deportes, choosing the best player in the squad for each skill. When it came to heading the ball, he picked Gabriel Jesus.
It’s quite a compliment for a player who’s only been at the club since the end of the summer, and it’s not the first. Hansi Flick said last month that Jesus had “improved a lot and adapted to our style”, and he’s admitted he couldn’t believe Barcelona got him for the price they did.
Jesus has made his minutes count, too. He has four goals in 10 appearances, despite starting just two games, including one on his Champions League debut against Feyenoord.
Barcelona are among the favourites to win the Champions League this season, as are Arsenal. They bounced back from a 4-2 defeat to PSG by beating Unai Emery’s Aston Villa 3-0 on Tuesday, with Raphinha scoring twice and Lamine Yamal getting the other.
That leaves them fifth in the league phase, one place behind Cesc Fabregas’ Como, who climbed to fourth after a record-breaking 9-1 win at Lens. PSG, Real Madrid and Arsenal, the only three sides yet to lose, make up the top three.
If both clubs go deep in the competition, there’s every chance Jesus comes up against his old side. Arsenal fans would surely give him a warm reception. Unless he scores, of course.
