Arsenal are ‘confident’ that they can get a deal over the line to sign RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa in the January window, according to reports.
The Gunners signed Christos Tzolis in the summer transfer window for around £34m from Club Brugge but some fans still think the club need more attackers.
Arsenal sold Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus in the summer and a new attacker is a January priority if they can find the right fit.
A previous report from Caught Offside claimed that RB Leipzig’s Nusa is their ‘top January window target’ with Juventus’ Kenan Yildoz also on Mikel Arteta’s radar.
The report revealed at the beginning of October: ‘Sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside that Arsenal are preparing a fresh move for RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa after previously considering him during the summer. The Norway international has developed into one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting wide players and would offer the pace and one-against-one threat Arteta has been looking to add on the left.
‘Juventus star Kenan Yildiz also remains firmly on Arsenal’s radar, although convincing the Italian giants to sell would require a huge offer.’
However, The Sun revealed this week that the Gunners are facing a ‘hurdle’ as they look to bring the Norway international to north London.
The newspaper adds: ‘Arsenal have been scouting the Norwegian – however SunSport understands a deal will be difficult to pull off.
‘RB Leipzig view the 21-year-old as a key player and do not want to sell him in the middle of the season.’
Taking a different tone, The Daily Briefing has revealed that Arsenal are actually ‘confident’ of landing Nusa with a potential £45m transfer in the offing.
The outlet added: ‘I can confirm the Gunners’ interest is genuine and concrete, but there’s a lot more to it than that, while I can also name numerous other clubs pursuing the RB Leipzig winger.’
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealed in September that Arsenal are looking to sign a striker as their “next priority for Arteta”.
Romano said on the Here We Go podcast: “Yeah, Arsenal are still looking at strikers. That’s the reality, they are considering options, looking at options.
“Then I would not call that as something imminent or urgent because Arsenal are very happy with the strikers they have.
“Arsenal are scoring a lot of goals, so at the moment they are quite happy and relaxed I would say with the options they have at striker position.
“Then if you ask me for 2027, striker is an area they want to cover is an area where I expect Arsenal to do something.
“If it’s not going to be January it might be in the summer transfer window. The timing we will see, it’s too early now, it’s still September, but Arsenal are looking at a striker as the next priority for Arteta.”
