Wow ... we're really treating a legend like this? (Allegedly)
Former catcher Jorge Posada says that the New York Yankees should bring in a coach who has a strong voice that will "push" the players to higher accountability standards.
With that being said, that coach will most likely not be Posada, with the baseball legend saying he doesn't "feel welcome" with the same franchise he won five World Series rings with.
"I mean, I could, but I don't think they want me there, to tell you the truth," said Posada in the Tuesday-published interview.
"I don't feel welcome when I go there, you know? Even in spring training, I don't feel like—I'm just like, I don't know, I don't feel welcome. I don't feel like they want me there, so I don't go."
Posada didn't go into detail about why he feels the way he does, however, he did mention his last season in New York as a player, which came in 2011. Then, he was replaced as the catcher, and found himself in a feud with Yankees management over his playing time decreasing due to his new role as a part-time designated hitter.
"My last season of my career was a really tough one when it comes to handling everything on my part and also the Yankees toward Jorge Posada," said Posada. "So it's tough to go back and feel that again."
Explains a little bit of why the Yankees haven't won a World Series in nearly 20 years ... yikes.
