Michael Carrick tried to stop Matheus Cunha from landing himself in any more trouble by getting him to go down the tunnel following Manchester United's comeback win over Roma.
Cunha was the star as United came from 2-0 down to beat the Italian side 3-2 at Old Trafford in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Roma raced into a two-goal lead by the 17th minute thanks to Matias Soule's strike and Donyell Malen's penalty.
Having been a shambles in the first half, United bounced back after the break, with Bruno Fernandes scoring from the penalty spot before Cunha netted twice. The Brazilian calmly slotted in to make it 2-2 from close range before blasting a second in at the near post.
His emotions got the better of him and he was booked for taking his shirt off and jumping into the crowd to celebrate. Cunha then picked up a second yellow card for sliding in late on Leonardo Balerdi.

United saw out the final few minutes with 10 men to end a run of nine games without a win and ease the pressure on Carrick. There was jubilation at the final whistle, with the players celebrating together on the pitch.
But Carrick's brief conversation with Cunha appeared to go against the atmosphere. The United boss approached his striker and appeared to order him down the tunnel, rather than allowing him to celebrate with his team-mates and the fans.
It seems that Carrick was just eager to avoid Cunha receiving any further punishment, because the laws of the game forbid red-carded players from entering the pitch immediately after full-time. They are supposed to remain in the spectator area, or the dressing room.
Having been sent off, Cunha will miss United's next Champions League game, against Sporting Lisbon on November 25 in Portugal. But Carrick didn't criticise his match-winner too harshly.
"Disappointed with how it finished but, again, it just shows how much he cares and he’s willing to do, when he’s in that frame of mind and he’s in that mood, that’s why we want him here," he said in his post-match press conference.
In an interview with CBS Sports Golazo, Cunha joked that his celebration was "too Brazilian", in showing passion, before adding: "What a magic day. Of course, apart from the red card.

"But yeah, everything that you can bring for this club and then always dream to be part of something unbelievable. "And come here and then have this comeback in this very hard moment of the season.
“Today was a blessed day for me. I always talk inside if I need to be this guy to have the responsibility in the hard moments, I’ll be there."
United face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday at Old Trafford before heading into a two-week international break. Cunha will be available to face Villa, with the suspension only counting in UEFA competitions.
