Tottenham are believed to be showing interest in signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White ahead of 2027, and there's no doubt he would be a huge upgrade on James Maddison.
Spurs have had a long-term interest in Gibbs-White and have been heavily linked with securing his signature for multiple years now.
Gibbs-White has remained loyal to Nottingham Forest over the last couple of years despite interest from a host of different clubs.
The England international signed a new contract with Forest back in 2025. Shortly before that, he was set to have a medical at Tottenham after they'd looked to trigger a £60 million release clause.
The deal never materialised as he put pen to paper over a new contract, but he's now being linked with a departure once again.
According to reports, Tottenham are planning to reignite their interest in Morgan Gibbs-White during 2027 if he is allowed to leave Nottingham Forest.
It's claimed that Gibbs-White could look to seek a move away if they continue to struggle in the Premier League, and Tottenham have continued to keep tabs on him.
Spurs see the England international as the ideal candidate to strengthen their squad, and he's seen as a good fit for how De Zerbi wants to play.
De Zerbi is looking to add another attacking midfielder to his side, which is no surprise given what's happening with James Maddison.
Maddison has struggled immensely with injuries over the last few years, barely featuring for Tottenham. De Zerbi simply can't rely on the former Leicester City man, so it would be no surprise if they looked to bring in a replacement for him.
The number of games Maddison has missed over the last two years is astonishing, and even when he looked to be getting back to fitness this season, he's picked up further injuries.
In his prime, Maddison is a fantastic player, but unfortunately, we don't see enough of that in a Tottenham shirt.
One player who is regularly consistent and available is Gibbs-White, so there's no doubt he would actually be an upgrade on Maddison.
Gibbs-White is a more consistent performer in the final third, and he's also a leader at Forest.
Maddison is a leader at Tottenham, but unfortunately he spends a lot of the time leading from behind the scenes due to his injury record.
Signing Gibbs-White would take Tottenham's midfield to the next level, and it's no surprise that De Zerbi is keen on securing his signature in 2027.
