Michael Carrick needs to break this nine-game winless streak against AS Roma, and for that, he will have to take some tough decisions.

A spirited first-half performance against Chelsea showed that Man Utd are still up for the fight, but the second-half collapse showed just how low morale is.

Let's talk Manchester United RELEGATION

The morale change can be brought about only by making some changes that wake up the dressing room at Carrington from its stupor.

Kobbie Mainoo’s return to the starting XI will fill Man Utd fans with confidence, while some ruthlessness from Michael Carrick is long overdue.

GK- Senne Lammens

No prizes for guessing who the goalkeeper will be. Senne Lammens hasn’t been as good as last season, but he’s still a reliable shot-stopper and by far United’s best goalkeeper.

RB – Leny Yoro

Right-back isn’t Leny Yoro’s best position but he’s managing extremely well, and it allows Diogo Dalot to play on the opposite flank because Carrick won’t play Harry Amass for some reason.

CB- Harry Maguire, Ayden Heaven

The first big call should come in central defence, with Lisandro Martinez paying for his Chelsea game by being dropped for this one. Harry Maguire is Carrick’s Mr. Reliable, but the club need to start moving on from Martinez by investing in Heaven’s future.

LB – Diogo Dalot

Dalot on the left is not the best option due to him being right-footed, but considering Carrick’s avoidance of Amass, he’s the only option.

TalkingPoints

Michael Carrick has BACKED Lisandro Martinez ahead of United's game with Roma – How do you feel about his comments? Should Martinez play vs Roma – or is is time he is dropped to the bench?

CM – Kobbie Mainoo, Carlos Baleba

Man Utd fans should finally see Kobbie Mainoo start alongside Carlos Baleba in midfield after the former returned from injury against Chelsea.

Mainoo-Baleba has a high ceiling, and they should start familiarising themselves with each other starting from this game.

RW – Amad

Amad has been wasteful, but he’s at least creating chances, which is more than what can be said about his teammates this season. He’s excited for a bounce-back, so he should play a part in making that happen here.

CAM – Bruno Fernandes

United don’t win with Bruno Fernandes, and they don’t win without him, but the captain’s ability to create something will always be relied upon.

LW – Matheus Cunha

Marcus Rashford and Patrick Dorgu are still not back, and the Youri Tielemans experiment needs to end. Matheus Cunha played well on the left last season, and he should be restored there now.

ST – Bryan Mbeumo

The only fit player at the club with striker’s instincts should start up top by default.
