Michael Carrick after the defeat to Como
Michael Carrick is set to take charge of Manchester United's Premier League fixture against Bournemouth, despite coming under mounting pressure after a wretched Champions League defeat at the hands of Como.
Carrick is under intense scrutiny at Old Trafford after a return of just two wins in 11 games at the start of the season, and his side are now seven matches without a win in all competitions.
The 45-year-old was only given a two-year contract at the end of last season but his reign is already hanging by a thread after a woeful start to the season hit a nadir in Como.
A lacklustre United were thrashed 4-1 by the Serie A side and Carrick rounded on his players after the game, criticising them for a lack of application, while captain Bruno Fernandes instead questioned the tactics.
It paints a picture of a club in disarray ahead of Sunday's Premier League fixture against Bournemouth at Old Trafford and Carrick was non-committal when asked about his own future in Como on Wednesday night.
"I've not give my own position any thought - this is for the supporters - I was one of them watching that and I wasn't happy at all," he said.

When asked if he had considered quitting, Carrick said: "It's not about me right now, and my feelings in that regard. It's more of as a team and as a football club, what we want to look like, what we should look like.
"The results can come and go at times, but you've got to do it in a certain way. And that wasn't it."
