With the Indianapolis Colts moving on from GM Chris Ballard earlier in the week, the immediate future of several players is now in question with the Nov. 10 trade deadline approaching.
One of those players is veteran defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, who is set to be a free agent this upcoming offseason.
When speaking with the local media on Thursday, Buckner was asked if he wants to remain with the Colts.
“Right now, I’m just focused on the Vikings," he said, via The Athletic's James Boyd.
Buckner was then asked if he'd entertain a trade if approached by the organization.
“I mean, we’ll see," Buckner said, via Boyd. "I mean, if that happens, then we’ll see. We’ll see how that goes.”
Buckner is a prime trade candidate. As mentioned, he's on an expiring deal and is continuing to play at a high level, allowing him to make an impact on a playoff contender at a key position.
When asked about the importance of winning, Buckner said, "All I care about is winning," adding that he wants to be able to compete for another Super Bowl.
For now, as Carlie Irsay-Gordon said in a statement after GM Chris Ballard was fired, the Colts' goals for the 2026 season remain the same. That said, how the next few weeks unfold with matchups against 5-0 Minnesota and 4-2 Jacksonville may end up largely dictating whether or not the Colts sell -- or how heavily they sell -- at the trade deadline.
