The Seattle Seahawks enter Week 8 with a major boost after downing the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7, and are now on the right side of .500 at 4-3 heading into the Week 8 slate of games.
Bleacher Report ranked the Seahawks No. 7 overall in their latest power rankings following an impressive victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
“Admittedly, the Seahawks are flawed right now—Sam Darnold threw another interception against the Chiefs, and while the run game generated over 150 yards, it took over 40 carries to do it,” Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport said. “However, teams who underestimate the power of Seattle's defense do so at their peril. When playing at anything near its best, it's a unit capable of putting the clamps on even high-end offenses.”
Seattle delivered a statement performance against Kansas City, showcasing its potential as a contender and building momentum as the second half of the season approaches.
Sam Darnold led the offense with 257 passing yards and a touchdown, completing 20 of 28 attempts. Jaxon Smith-Njigba continued to establish himself as a premier playmaker in the league, as he finished with nine receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown. Their connection helped Seattle control the game and generate consistent offensive production against Kansas City.
The Seahawks’ defense played like a championship-caliber unit, limiting Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to just three points. Seattle consistently disrupted Kansas City’s offensive rhythm, holding AP MVP candidate Kenneth Walker III to just 36 rushing yards on the game. Nick Emmanwori and Devon Witherspoon contributed significantly to the team’s overall defensive effort. Derick Hall recorded a sack, two quarterback hits and a tackle for loss in the victory. The dominant performance demonstrated the Seahawks’ ability to compete with the league’s top teams and deliver when it matters most.
Seattle now turns its attention to Week 8, with a game against the Chicago Bears on the horizon. The matchup presents an opportunity for Seattle to pick up another needed win and continue to turn around its up-and-down start to the year.
