Bournemouth have delivered a major transfer update to Alex Scott’s suitors as the England international continues to be chased by a string of top Premier League clubs, FootballTransfers can exclusively reveal.
Article continues under the videoScott’s strong performances for the Cherries have seen Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool linked with a potential January move for the 23-year-old.
Despite the interest of these clubs, well-placed sources have indicated that Bournemouth will not allow the former Bristol City midfielder to leave in the middle of the season – and there are implications for Rayan and Junior Kroupi, too.
Bournemouth’s excellent performances over the course of the last 18 months have led the club into Europe, which culminated in a stunning 3-0 win over AC Milan in the Europa League.
The Cherries are being fuelled by an exciting crop of young talent, including Scott, Rayan and Kroupi.
The widespread expectation is that Bournemouth will start the bidding for each of these players at £100 million (€119m), giving the club unprecedented financial clout.
Indeed, they have no intention of selling these much-wanted stars in January.
But while Rayan and Kroupi are tied to comparatively long contracts, the case of Alex Scott is a little more urgent.
Scott’s contract with Bournemouth expires in 2028, meaning that unless the Cherries sell next year or can sign him to a new deal, they risk seeing him leave for nothing at the end of his agreement.
But FootballTransfers has been told that the south coast side will not be pressed into making a hasty decision in January. Scott is seen as a key member of the squad and not a player who can be sacrificed halfway through the season.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have already been linked with alternatives, including Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari, as they search for a long-term replacement for Enzo Fernandez.
Scott is closing in on 100 Bournemouth appearances and has featured 85 times in the Premier League for the club since arriving in 2023.
Over that time, he has earned a reputation for his all-round quality, as underlined by team-mate Antonio Silva, who told Transfermarkt:
“I already knew that he was a very good player [before I joined]. I have played with some good midfielders in Benfica with Joao Neves and Enzo Fernandez and I think he's right up there. He has the capacity to attack, to defend, to win duels, to assist, so he's a very competitive player and it's a pleasure to have him here at Bournemouth.”
Bournemouth will enjoy that pleasure until at least next summer, with interest from Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City all set to be rebuffed in January.
